Over the River and Through the Woods, to Lava Cap Winery we Go. The winery knows the way, to please your day, with great flavors and occasional Snow, Oh…….!
Yes, this great winery has its roots in a family of geologists, who know the soil and climate of this region known for volcano activity millions of years past. They named their new business after this unique “lava cap,” where their grapes flourish in the volcanic soil, warmed by the foothill sunshine and cooled by gentle Sierra night breezes. The winery has stayed in the Jones family from the beginning. Grapes were planted in 1981 and the first presentation of their wines opened the tasting room in 1986. The rest is simply a history of hard work, quality and scientific winemaking, and a menu of beautifully aged red and white liquid pleasure. Come and see for yourselves the views and climate, and bring the pooch(that’s dog in winery lingo).
